David Attenborough Visits Bass Rock & Scottish Seabird Centre

Britain's best-known natural history film-maker finally set foot on the magnificent gannet colony of the Bass Rock for the first time in July. Sir David Attenborough described the island which is home to over 60,000 gannets during the breeding season, as 'perfection'.
The rock is situated in the Firth of Forth a short distance from Edinburgh, and is one of the largest single rock gannet colonies in the world. The gannets arrive in January and leave in September and there are so many of them that the rock turns white.
Sir David was visiting Bass Rock and the Scottish Seabird Centre for the filming of a new wildlife programme for Sky's 3D launch later this year.
Chief Executive of the Seabird Centre, Tom Brock showed Sir David around the centre. Cameras on the Bass Rock and other nearby islands beam footage back to the Centre where visitors can control the cameras themselves.Sir David was very impressed and was particularly fascinated by the cameras.
Everyone at the Seabird Centre was delighted to welcome Sir David and it was made particularly special as 2010 is the Scottish Seabird Centre's 10th Anniversary.
