About the Competition...


Judge: Peter Cairns, Nature Photographer

Pete Cairns’ wildlife and nature photographs wildlife are well-known in Scotland and beyond. Based in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, much of his photography concentrates on the unique species and spectacular landscapes found close to home. Over the last decade, he has travelled extensively in North America and Scandinavia and his images are distributed by several national and European picture libraries. He runs photography holidays both in Scotland and abroad and writes illustrated features for magazines and periodicals on a wide range of wildlife-related issues such as nature-based tourism and ecological restoration. His latest project, Tooth and Claw, explores our relationship with Britain's predators. Web: www.northshots.com

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
By submitting a photography to the competition you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

  1. Closing date for entries to the competition is close of business on 29th February 2008.
  2. Entrants can submit up to three photographs.
  3. The competition is open to amateur photographers only. Professional photographers are not eligible to enter. Bona fide amateur photographers should not earn more than 10% of their total annual income from photography.
  4. Employees of Wild Scotland, their agencies, immediate families and Wild Scotland members are not eligible to enter.
  5. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. The winner will be notified by 14th March 2008.
  7. The winner’s name will be available after 14th March 2008 by enclosing a stamped, addressed envelope and writing to Wild Scotland Summer Photography Competition, Wild Scotland, Thistle House, Beechwood Park North, Inverness, IV2 3ED.
  8. All entrants must be 18 years or over.
  9. There will one winner.
  10. The prize must be taken between 15th March 2008 and 15th March 2009.
  11. All places must be booked in advance and are subject to availability.
  12. No cash alternative will be offered.
  13. Prizes do not include transport, accommodation or other services.
  14. The promoters of the prize draw are Wild Scotland and Wild Scotland’s members.
  15. Each photograph must be original and taken by entrant.
  16. Manipulated digital images will not be accepted.
  17. All photographs must be legally obtained, in the wild, with permission if appropriate.
  18. Entrants must be the sole author and owner of copyright for all pictures entered.
  19. On submitting photographs for the competition, the entrant is agreeing to give Wild Scotland the right to free reproduction of entries in connection with the promotion of the competition or Wild Scotland.
  20. All photographs should be submitted in a digital format and available in a size, format and resolution that can be emailed, posted on a website as well as printed.
  21. All photographs must be submitted with a completed entry form.
  22. All entries are sent at the photographer’s risk and Wild Scotland regrets that they cannot accept liability for damage or loss.
  23. Entries that do not meet the competition terms and conditions will be disqualified.
