Exploring Scotland on foot is a great way to see the country whatever your age or ability. There are countless all-ability walks suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs, allowing for gentle wanders through fields, forest and along the coast. 

If you're looking to make more of a day of it Scotland is home to various long-distance trails and Munros. You can opt to just hike a section of a long-distance trail, or to walk the whole way over several days, journeying from point to point with overnight stops. Notable long-distance trails in Scotland include the West Highland Way, the Great Glen Way, the Southern Upland Trail and the Cateran Trail.

To bag a Munro is to reach the summit of a Scottish mountain which is over 3,000 ft (914.4 m) in height – many aspire to climb all 282 of them. Reaching the top gives an incredible sense of accomplishment and the mountain vistas can be exceptional, stretching on for miles and miles. Smaller hills are referred to as Grahams and Corbetts, although not as high as a Munro, they still provide a fantastic day out with stunning views. 

Those looking for a proper adrenaline rush and can try rock climbing. Ranging from learning the ropes at climbing walls, to multi-pitch explorations of Scotland's finest crags, rock climbing is a great way to test your mettle and take in Scotland's landscape from higher up.
