Join geologist Angus Miller on a time-travelling Geowalk adventure and discover the stories of Scotland’s landscapes. Wherever you are in Scotland, you have some of the world’s most amazing geology under your feet.  You’re surrounded by an incredible story that stretches back through billions of years deep in time, but comes right up to the present. Today’s landscape continues to evolve as we recover from the last ice age, and faces an uncertain future with climate change and human activity as a geological processes.

Scotland is the home of one of the world’s most famous geologists, James Hutton (1726-1797) and you can follow in his footsteps and see the evidence that he used to support his far-reaching ideas of how the Earth works.

Scotland’s varied scenery is made of an amazing range of rocks … there really is nowhere else like it in the world! Join Angus for a hike up Edinburgh’s extinct volcano, Arthur’s Seat, and explore the geological fabric that makes this city special. Or take a day tour along the coast of the North Sea for some beautiful coastal scenery, rocky headlands and sandy beaches, and some great spots for wildlife and history.

Geowalks also offers longer trips, touring Scotland’s scenic highlights or visiting one of our Geoparks or islands for a deeper exploration of the geology: with added wildlife, culture, castles, whisky and great food. There’s lots to do, at any time of year: from two-hour walks to bespoke tours lasting up to two weeks.

Come and explore Scotland, the Home of Geology!
