Community‑run outdoor centre and flexible group accommodation for exploring Shetland’s wild north mainland.
Voxter Outdoor Centre is a historic former country house offering simple, comfortable group accommodation for up to 22 guests in Northmavine, on Shetland’s North Mainland.
Set in its own peaceful grounds, with trees, a burn and direct access to the shore of Voxter Voe, the centre makes an excellent base for exploring the landscapes, coastline and wildlife of northern Shetland. Guests can access Voxter Voe directly from the grounds, while the spectacular North Mainland cliffs and coastline at Muckle Roe and Eshaness are just a short drive away, offering opportunities for kayaking, walking and birdwatching.
Groups have exclusive use of the centre, including a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, spacious dining room and a large sitting room with plenty of space for talks, activities or simply relaxing together after a day outdoors.
Voxter is particularly well suited to groups and gatherings, creative activities and outdoor adventures.
With opportunities for walking, kayaking, coastal and moorland exploration, bird and wildlife watching, beaches and local heritage sites nearby, Voxter provides a relaxed and practical base for discovering Shetland’s outdoors throughout the year.
Voxter Outdoor Centre is managed by Voxter Centre Trust, a Scottish registered charity. Income from stays helps to subsidise visits by schools and youth groups, as well as supporting the ongoing care, improvement and future of this community-run facility.
