Wildlife & Nature Spots

Being able to encounter wildlife in Scotland is a thrilling experience.

Being able to encounter wildlife in Scotland is a thrilling experience.
Knowing where and importantly how to look can make wildlife easy to spot.

Scotland benefits from two national parks - Cairngorms National Park and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National park as well as nature reserves, forest parks and country estates which can be a good place to start whether you’re interested in wildlife watching, Alpine flora and fauna, marine life, mature ancient woodland or coastal dunes and cliffs.

Scotland welcomes responsible walkers, bikers and wildlife watchers. There are many locations that provide facilities such as path networks and wildlife hides to help you get the most of your visit. Just bring along a pair of binoculars and patience, you're bound to see something interesting.

There are also dedicated nature visitor centres and attractions dotted across the country, which not only help you to see specific species, but also host interactive displays, exhibits and guided tours. These are great for enjoying and learning more about Scotland's plant and animal life within dry and warm facilities, and often featuring a delicious cafe to refuel with coffee and cake.

Our members are committed to delivering first-class experiences and advocate responsible tourism. Furthermore, all Wild Scotland members operate in line with our Best Practice Guidelines in regards to sustainability, accessibility, community and safety.
